Reason Interviewed: Randy's Success in NYC & his letter of introduction on LinkedIN is one of the best I have seen in over 10 + years. Company: Keller Williams NYC opened in Manhattan less than 2 years ago. Today we have approximately 200 agents and we are still growing rapidly. We are the # 2 agency in the U’S. and aim to be # 1, both across our nation and locally. We DO try harder! Title: Licensed Salesperson Age: 55. First job: Working as a clerk on the American Stock Exchange at age 19. Worst job: I can honestly say that I haven’t had something that could qualify as a worst job. After 30 years as a member of the American Stock and NY Mercantile Exchange’s, followed up by a real estate career that I love, I just can’t complain! Best part of your job: Meeting people, the constant interactivity with new customers and clients make for a different type of day, every day. Life Culture in the office: Keller Williams is such an agent centric organization that coupled with the endless educational and motivational opportunities they provide, that I could not be happier being under a corporate umbrella. Management style: Easy and relaxed, but at the same time driven. I like to get a lot of work accomplished with a smile on my face. Biggest pet peeve: Buyers who don’t realize that they can have an agent represent them at no cost, only benefit to them. The sellers agent owes them, the buyer only fairness while they owe the seller fiduciary responsibility. That means that anything a buyer divulges to the sellers agent that is material to the deal MUST be passed on to the seller. And the seller is paying the same commission regardless of whether the buyer has their own agent, so it will not result in a lower price paid for the apartment by both buyer and seller using the seller’s agent. Strengths: Integrity, professionalism, character and experience. Add in an ability to understand the “numbers” of a deal stemming from 30 years as an Option Market Maker, and you pretty much have all the bases you need covered. Weaknesses: Caring too much. As a veteran of the financial markets for so many years, I could see the fall that was about to take place in early 2008. I could not, in good conscience push any buyers to do a deal knowing full well that they would be underwater almost immediately. That resulted in a lot less deals done back then but my customers know when I say that I believe prices are about to rise, I really mean it. Short term loss for my business, but long term gain! Family: I’m a single parent of a wonderful, beautiful, talented 14 year old girl. She also happens to be quite an athlete, placing 8th at this past summer’s USA Diving Nationals on platform for her age group. Weekends: Like most real estate agents…..Work, work, work! Reading Material: My emails LOL, board packages, and every now and then, on a vacation…a novel. TV: I’m a certified News and Sports junkie. Something people don’t know about you: How about one good thing and one not so good? Good: I have boxed in Madison Square Garden. Not so good: I have been knocked out in Madison Square Garden, LOL! What’s next for your company? Helping Keller Williams blaze a trail to become the # one agency in NYC. Best advice: There is a poem by Rudyard Kipling called “IF” I’ve tried to live my life by it and I would recommend it to all… http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/if/ Contact: Randy Reis Licensed Real Estate Salesperson Keller Williams l NYC 425 Park Ave 6th Floor l New York, NY 10022 O: 212 838.3700 l C: 917.435.4870 [email protected] www.kwnyc.com
